USS Rosenante Compile Through the Looking Glass 4 ==================== Through the Looking Glass Day 1 Stardate: 2414.06.11 ==================== (Rosenante,Sickbay,CMO,Dr. Korvin Rixx,Day 1,1541) Korvin hovered near the FO as he and the CO discussed what the FO experienced. Sanok confirmed that Torell was not acting on his own. Rixx was like most non-trkepathic beings - the whole science of mind melding seemed like a 'bkack art' to him. The command duo went quiet for a moment. If he knew his FO the Vulcan would insist on returning to duty. While Sanok was healthy physically the mental state was hard to evaluate. The two senior officers looked at the Bolian CMO intently. He, as CMO, has the authority to keep Sanik off duty. Rixx also knew humanoid psychology and knew the image of a Senior Officer facing danger like the others is an inspiration. Sighing, Rixx replied to the skippers question "the first officer may return to duty with two conditions: 1. He will wear a cortical monitor as you suggest Captain and 2. At the first sign of less than 100% capacity I will have him beamed back to Sick Bay and removed from duty. Agreed Gentlemen?". (Reply: CO and FO) (Posted by: Bill West ----- (Rosenante, Sickbay, FO/CSec Lt. Cmdr. Sanok, Day 1, 1542) It was agreeable to Sanok that no one else had been seriously injured by Lt. Torell. Knowing that the Tesla mystery had not been solved yet, made Sanok want to return to duty more quickly. Of course, the medical people would have something to say about that. "I'll have Dr. Rixx make sure you're fit to return to your duties," said Soma, "but I want you to wear a cortical monitor. If this entity can take over telepaths, you may be our only chance for an early warning system." Sanok studied Ben for a moment. His friend certainly knew Sanok wanted to return to duty. He also knew Ben would know Sanok was fit. He supposed being CO, instead of being in security, was changing Ben more than Sanok thought. "Yes, sir," said Sanok. While Ben and Dr. Rixx were talking about his return to duty, Sanok glanced at Marah, who had been working in sickbay while he was there. She had not spoken, but Sanok could see by the expression on her face, that she was relieved that he had regained consciousness. Marah had become the love of Ben's life, something that was a normal part of living, but something Sanok never really thought would happen to Ben. From the time they had met Marah on Axtis III, there was something between them. It was as though they had been created for one another. Ben had even come close to leaving Starfleet to be with her, and it was something Sanok had encouraged Ben to do. He did not want to lose his friend, but Marah had sparked something in Ben that hadn't been there previously. She had moved to Earth, staying in the Soma family home, while Ben remained in service, thinking about what he should do. Marah was kidnapped and taken to Axtis III, which led to a series of adventures leading to Marah's rescue, though it had been five years in linear time, and less than one for Sanok and Ben, due to the mysterious time jump several ships in the fleet had experienced. In the end, it had all worked out. "The first officer may return to duty, with two conditions," said Dr. Rixx. "One: He will wear a cortical monitor, as you suggest, Captain, and two: at the first sign of less than 100% capacity, I will have him beamed back to sickbay and removed from duty. Agreed, gentlemen?" "Of course, Doctor," said Sanok, "though I assure you, I am fine." (reply Soma, Rixx, iyw) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Rosenante, Sickbay, CO, Captain Ben Soma, Day 1, 1544) "The first officer may return to duty, with two conditions," said Dr. Rixx. "One: He will wear a cortical monitor, as you suggest, Captain, and two: at the first sign of less than 100% capacity, I will have him beamed back to sickbay and removed from duty. Agreed, gentlemen?" "Of course, Doctor," said Sanok, "though I assure you, I am fine." Ben nodded his approval and waited for Rixx to leave them and Sanok to get on his feet. Once his friend was standing Ben gestured to the door. "Shall he head to the bridge and see if there are any answers waiting for us." They left sickbay, Ben turned to flash Marah a smile which she returned with a wave. Once outside in the empty corridor they began walking in silence, Ben decided to break that silence. "It's good to have you on your feet again Sanok." He said. "You gave me a bit of a scare back there." Ben knew that he was acting a little differently now that he had assumed command of the Rose, it wasn't something he had intended but it was happening nonetheless. He was certain Sanok and a few others noticed it as well, his yes sir answer rather than trying to talk his way out of the monitor was indication enough. They had been through much together in the past and he hoped they would persevere much more in the future. "I don't like the idea that someone can take control of our people and use them to attack us." He said. "Torell hasn't caused any trouble since coming on board but that's because he's contained behind a force field. When I spoke with him I could see he wanted to attack, I could almost the hatred and the need for vengeance. Even now I can feel something disturbing, almost like a presence." (reply Sanok iyw) (posted by Milo Young) ----- (Rosenante, Brig, Ensign David Hudson, Day 1, 1600) It had been about two hours since Lieutenant Torell had been beamed from the Tesla to the Rosenante brig. While watching Torell, David had been filled with an uneasy feeling. It was as though someone else was there, someone in the room he couldn't see. It was making him so jittery, David found himself constantly looking around the room. Not wanting to be embarrassed, or to have his partner, Phil, pick on him, David hadn't mentioned it. The thing was, he had noticed Phil acting the same way. It was giving David the creeps. As the time had passed, Torell eventually moved away from the security field and sat on the cot inside the cell. Before he had done that, he had glared at David for several minutes, as though Torell were studying him. He had also done the same to Phil. This assignment wouldn't be over soon enough. "What do you think is going on over there?" said Phil. "On the Tesla." David shook his head and shrugged. "If it's anything like this..." He motioned to Torell. "...it's got to be pretty strange." "You worried about the boogie man?" Phil chuckled. "I've been watching you, hot shot. He's been creeping you out, too." Phil harrumphed. "I don't know," said David. "I haven't been out here long, but you know a lot of weird stuff can happen." David noticed that Phil was staring at Torell. Turning to look, he saw the man lying on the cot, in the fetal position. His eyes were closed so tightly, David thought they would pop out. "Do you think we should call somebody?" said Phil. "The captain? Sickbay?" David thought about it for a moment. They probably should call someone, but it made more sense for them to contact sickbay. Why bother the captain over what was probably a guy that was mentally traumatized? "I'll call for a medic," said David. He was about to tap his comm badge, when the ship lurched. He was able to keep from falling by grabbing the security console. Phil almost fell off his chair. "What the heck?" said Phil. The red alert klaxon began to sound.... (reply any) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Rosenante, Bridge, FO/CSec Lt. Cmdr. Sanok, Day 1, 1601) The instant Dr. Rixx had completed applying the cortical monitor, Sanok was out of sickbay, to his quarters, into a new uniform, and back on the bridge. With so many security personnel on the Tesla, he was manning the main security station. As if waiting for him to arrive, the console beeped. "Captain, sensors are detecting-" Sanok was interrupted as the ship lurched. The red alert klaxon sounded automatically. "Captain, something is happening just ahead of us, approximately three miles away. Shields are up." "Confirmed," said Science. "It's a type of reading I've never seen before." The ship lurched again, as though a wave was striking it. On the forward view screen, something white appeared. It began swirling and growing. With a bright flash that filled the bridge, the object exploded into life. "Readings are off the scale!" said Science. The object before them was a spiraling funnel of pastels, that led to a dark, empty hole in the middle. "Possibly a wormhole or some sort of portal," said Sanok. "I cannot tell yet if it is natural or artificial." The ship lurched again. "We are being scanned, and it is coming through the portal." (reply bridge crew) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Rosenante, Bridge, CO, Captain Ben Soma, Day 1, 1602) "Captain, sensors are detecting-" Sanok was interrupted as the ship lurched. The red alert klaxon sounded automatically. Ben turned in his seat towards Sanok all the while holding onto both armrests to ensure he remained in his seat. The ship was being tossed about by some unknown force, not unlike a certain storm that had damaged the Rose previously and the Tesla was investigating. "Captain, something is happening just ahead of us, approximately three miles away. Shields are up." "Confirmed," said Science. "It's a type of reading I've never seen before." "On screen." Ben ordered as the Rose rocked again. On the view screen the source of the turbulence started to form, a spiraling funnel of multi colors. If not for the apparent danger associated with the phenomenon Ben might have described what he was seeing as beautiful. He continued to watch as the funnel continued to grow and slowly reach it's maximum dimensions, at it's center was a black pit devoid of any light. "Readings are off the scale!" said Science. "Possibly a wormhole or some sort of portal," said Sanok. "I cannot tell yet if it is natural or artificial." The ship lurched again. "We are being scanned, and it is coming through the portal." "Prepare a class five probe and launch it into the vortex." Ben instructed. (reply Sanok) He then opened a com line to the Tesla. "Rosenante to Matrix." He said. "What's your status Commander?" (reply Matrix, Maddox) "We may have to pull you out, some sort of vortex just opened up ahead of us." Ben explained. "We are currently being scanned from within the event horizon." (reply Matrix, Maddox) Ben turned to Sanok again. "Lock onto the Tesla with a tractor beam." Ben instructed as he turned to the helm. "Back us off a hundred thousand kilometers, I want a good buffer zone between us and that vortex." "Aye Sir." Came the reply from Helm. (reply Sanok) Again Ben preferred to err on the side of caution, if something came out of that vortex he wanted as much room and extra time to move as possible. The probe should be able to provide them with some information about the sudden appearance of the vortex and hopefully a little about the inside as well as the source of the scan. (reply Sanok, away team) (posted by Milo Young) ----- (USS Tesla - Computer Core - Science Officer - Ensign(JG)Andrew Maddox - 1603 Andrew and Commander Matrix both had their heads in the computer core imputing various algorithms in an attempt to break the encryption. Combined they have been trying codes in binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal. Decimal and binary were the first to be tried, each of them taking one code type. When those failed, some brain storming compelled them to try the less common varieties of octal and hexadecimal. Half way through running the octal encryption and the code was broken. "I GOT IT!" Andrew exclaimed. (Reply Lt. Cmdr Matrix) "Yes, finishing up putting the program under protection now." Andrew said. "We should be able to reboot the system, now." (Reply Lt. Structural Integrity Field at Fifty percent, Inertial Dampers at Twenty-Five." The Tesla lurched again, but more violently, more like a minor earthquake then it was before. "SIF and Inertial Dampers holding fast." Andrew reported. (Reply Lt. Cmdr Matrix) "Accessing now. Navigation is initializing, as are impulse engines, they should be ready in a few minutes." (Reply Lt. Cmdr Matrix) "I agree. We should then seek alternate means of arresting our momentum. Tactical systems are available." Andrew announced. (Reply Lt. Cmdr Matrix) ~Of course, why didn't I think of that? Oh, that's right, because instead of going on the bridge you stick your head in a science lab.~ "Tractor beam locked on to the Rosenante." Andrew reported. The Tesla rocked violently. Violently enough that Andrew had to hold on to the seat he was in to avoid hitting the deck. Outside the blue beam from the Tesla gripped the Rosenante like a drowning victim desperately clinging to a ring life preserver. The stress and gravimetric shear was taking it's toll on the Tesla. "SIF to 43%" Andrew announced, even deep into the vessel the groaning of the metal supports could be heard. "Thirty-nine!" (Reply Lt Cmdr Matrix) "Shunting power from the shields to the SIF." He yelled over the noise. His fingers danced across the panel in front of him. Then the noise stopped and all was quiet again. "Structural integrity holding at 73%" Andrew said honestly relieved. (Reply Matrix, Rosenante) (Posted by Todd) ----- (Uss Rosenante, Sick Bay, Dr. Korvin Rixx , Day 1, 1604) Rixx sat in his office reviewing the ship's medical records. He still wasn't used to savings civilians on board. Kids of any race were his least favorite beings. Younger kids could not describe to him what was wrong with them. Pediatric medicine had greatly increased over the last couple of centuries but machines could only tell you so much. Korvin liked to speak to his patients and tried to never hit them with a lot of medical mumbo jumbo. As he laid down some padds, the Rose shook violently knocking him to the floor. Rixx ran back into Sick Bay and shouted "prepare for casualties". Tapping his badge Rixx sent " Sick Bay to Bridge. Rixx here what's going on?'. (Reply: Bridge) "Sick is stranding by" he reported. (Reply: Bridge) (Posted by: Bill W.) ----- (USS Tesla - Computer Core - LCDR Steven Matrix, CEO -1606) This isn't looking good so far.~ thought Matrix. "How about we try a multiplexed octal encryption algorithm...nothing has worked so far." said Matrix. "I GOT IT!" Maddox exclaimed. "Good, I think we should isolate the program to be safe. Do you agree?" asked Matrix. "Yes, finishing up putting the program under protection now." Maddox said. "We should be able to reboot the system, now." "Okay...that looks good....give it a try...reboot." said Matrix. The ship lurched slightly, as if accelerating. Matrix nearly fell to the floor.."That can't be good. Did you trigger any system start ups?" asked Matrix "No, sir. I haven't started up any major system yet. This ship is definitely not under her own power." replied Maddox "The intertial dampers must be offline or malfunctioning." said Matrix. Andrew instantly recalled what he had learned in Systems Functions and Basic Engineering courses at the Academy. "Pulling that up now. Structural Integrity Field at Fifty percent, Inertial Dampers at Twenty-Five." The Tesla lurched again and Matrix fell backwards into the display console then onto the floor. He looked over at Maddox. "SIF and Inertial Dampers holding fast." Maddox reported. "That's about enough of that. Are the main systems coming back up yet." asked Matrix as he stood backup and composed himself. "Accessing now. Navigation is initializing, as are impulse engines, they should be ready in a few minutes." said Maddox. Matrix grabbed the console station's edge as he made the short walk back over to where Andrew was working. "We need to stabilize these momentum swings. Can we enable a tractor beam on the Rose or bring the impulse engines online?" asked Matrix looking over the systems console. =^= Matrix to the Rosenante...we're going to enable a tractor beam to the Rose to stabilize the Tesla.=^= (Reply any on the Rosenante) "I agree. (Reply Maddox, Rosenante) (Posted by Steve) ----- (USS Tesla, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 1607) For the last two hours, Tho'var had been looking for things to do. He had already checked everything he could in sickbay and nothing revealed anything damaged or out of place. He was still waiting for a communication from his superior, Matrix, to inform him if they had succeeded or not with the lockout....and he was rather surprise when he realized the lockout was lifted. ~Well, perhaps they got their hands busy~ thought Tho'var trying to explain why they haven't contacted him. After the calm, the rainstorm was probably about to start. With the lockout lifted, data started to arrive at the main engineering console. One by one, the systems began to start. Before he knew it, Tho'var tumbled on the floor after the ships suddenly moved without warning. He got back on his feet and checked the inertial dampeners. Apparently, Maddox and Matrix were already working on the problem. Nevertheless there was still something not right. Tho'var checked quickly the state of the thrusters. They were also damaged. He opened a communication with lieutenant commander Matrix. "Lieutenant Tho'var to Lieutenant Commander Matrix." (Reply Matrix) "Sir. I just discovered that the USS Tesla thrusters have been damaged. I know you have fixed the inertial dampeners but I am afraid without thrusters, it will be quite difficult to correct the ship movements." (Reply Matrix) "That's a good idea sir. However, if we get too close, we won't have the thruster to avoid a collision. We would need to have antigraviton beams ready just in case, but with everything going on here, I doubt I will have the time to check the ship system and warpcore as well as permanently looking at the Tesla trajectory. Either we need to bring more men, or we would need our men on the Rosenante to take care of it via the Rosenante itself." (Reply Matrix) (Posted by Nick) 00000 (Rosenante, Bridge, FO/CSec Lieutenant Commander Sanok, Day 1, 1608) Soma said, "Prepare a class five probe and launch it into the vortex." "Aye, Captain," said Sanok, as he began the preparations. Based on what happened to the Tesla, and the mystery of her missing crew, the object opening in front of them could not be a coincidence, especially since they were being scanned from something through it. Sanok was also surmising that they now had the answer to what happened to the crew, though not the reasons why. "Launching probe," said Sanok. Ben had ordered helm to move the Rosenante back to 100,000 kilometers from the object. He had also ordered that they tractor the Tesla with them. "Captain, the Tesla has locked onto us with a tractor beam," said Sanok. "She's moving with us as we back away from the object." As the probe moved towards the dark center of the object, the bridge fell eerily silent. It was as though each member of the crew was holding their breath in an anticipation that felt like some force pressing upon them. "The probe has entered the object," said Sanok as it disappeared into the dark center. "Readings are coming through now." "Confirmed," said Science. "It's definitely a wormhole, but the eddies and stresses one would expect to see, are greatly reduced. I believe it was created artificially." "Agreed," said Sanok. There was more silence on the bridge, though this time, the atmosphere was more relaxed. "Probe is through the wormhole," said Sanok. "I should have a visual shortly." He tapped the security console. "On screen now." (reply any) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (USS Tesla, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 1612) The communication with his superior over, Tho'var refocused on the ship systems. Slowly and progressively, the ships engine and systems were turned on one by one. At first, the ship fusion reactors were providing the necessary power, but it would soon be insufficient. They had to turn the warpcore online so they needed to be very cautious about it. Tho'var examined the result of the different diagnostic tests he was running on the warpcore. According to the results, everything was okay. But it wasn't. Tho'var could felt it. There was a strange feeling that had started since the lockout had been lifted. Reexamining the data, Tho'var detected a very small spike in the warpcore chamber. It was difficult to tell what was involved, but it couldn't be taken lightly. Once more, Tho'var opened a communication with his superior. "Lieutenant Tho'var to Lieutenant Commander Matrix." (Reply Matrix) "Sorry sir to interrupt you once more. I have started a level 7 diagnostic of the ship warpcore and main system and I have already detected a potential spike in the energy level at 32.353 exactly. I've checked the warpcore earlier and had not found anything, but I would nevertheless recommend to keep the warpcore down until I complete a more thorough analysis. We still have the eight fusion reactors if you want to turn on all the ship systems. I could look at it to make sure we have sufficient energy coming from those." (Reply Matrix) (Posted by Nick) ----- (Rosenante, Bridge, CO, Captain Ben Soma, Day 1, 1613) Sanok announced that the Tesla had locked on to the Rose with a tractor beam and they were being towed along as the Rose moved back from the vortex. Ben opened a channel to the Tesla. "Rosenante to away team." He said. "Report" (reply away team) "Download the logs and sensor data." He replied. "You can review it when you return, I want you back on the Rosenante." "The probe has entered the object," said Sanok as it disappeared into the dark center. "Readings are coming through now." "Confirmed," said Science. "It's definitely a wormhole, but the eddies and stresses one would expect to see, are greatly reduced. I believe it was created artificially." "Agreed," said Sanok. An artificially created wormhole, why would someone do so and why this particular area. Who were they dealing with and what did they want? "Probe is through the wormhole," said Sanok. "I should have a visual shortly." He tapped the security console. "On screen now." Ben turned his attention back to the main viewscreen, what he saw wasn't what he was expecting. Instead of open space there was a space station. The channel was still open to the Tesla and Ben wanted his people back on the Rose. "Prepare to beam back." He said. "There's been a new development and I want everyone back on the Rosenante." (reply away team) Ben turned back to Sanok. "Try to contact the station." He said. "Let's find out who's on the other side of the wormhole and if they are responsible for it's creation." (reply Sanok) Ben wanted answers and he hoped he would soon get a few one way or the other. The logs and sensor data from the Tesla should reveal what happened aboard the ship and possibly why the crew disappeared. The inhabitants of the station may be able to inform them why they opened a wormhole and chosen this particular area of space. These engines haven't been up for who knows how long. Adjustments can be made while they are online.=^= replied Matrix. "Adjustments, indeed. It is not that much the engines themselves, but really the energy consumption. With all the damages and tampering there were, we don't know yet how efficient the ship systems will be. For example, we know that without the shield emitters, we may have to use the Tesla main deflector to boost the shields. I would recommend caution in our estimation. I'm sure a lot of energy will be lost to compensate for the problems we will encounters. As the fusion reactors are only used for secondary systems which represent 15% of the normal ship consumption, asking them to power the ship at 100% will be to ask them a lot. I know normally we can sustain full consumption for several hours....but that is at normal efficiency." =^= If we can't keep up with the energy requirements using the fusion reactors we'll have to put the warp core online. Let me know if your diagnostics turn up anything else. Thank you Lieutenant. =^= replied Matrix "I will do my best sir. Tho'var out." ended Tho'var. Tho'var analyzed the data collected from the level 7 diagnostic. At first, he couldn't figure out what was responsible for the spike. "Computer, run a visual simulation of what happen in the warpcore of the ship when activated, starting from time 0." Looking at the visual simulation, the first seconds were the time took for the matter and antimatter to get through the injectors and be fueled inside the warpcore. The matter-antimatter reaction happened at 12.729 seconds. At 32 seconds, the 103th collision was happening with the warpcore temperature reaching its peek. Tho'var compared those results with the one of other Nova-class ships. On those ships, the temperature in the warpcore was significantly less high at 32 seconds. It didn't took long for Tho'var to realize the USS Tesla warpcore was not really efficient at 68%, which was lower that the normal efficiency back in the 23th. But even with 68% efficiency, that wasn't explaining the energy spike. "Computer, run a structural integrity scan of the warpcore." The results appeared on the computer. The warpcore didn't seemed to have been damaged in any way except from the normal usage. The structural integrity was still way above Starfleet Protocols. ~Okay, so what is the problem?`~ wondered Tho'var. It seemed it would take as long as he expected....which meant he needed to hurry as the Tesla needed its warpcore operational. (Posted by Nick) ----- (Rosenante, Bridge, FO/CSec Lieutenant Commander Sanok, Day 1, 1620) "Try to contact the station," said Soma. "Let's find out who's on the other side of the wormhole, and if they are responsible for its creation." Sanok acknowledged the captain's order and began preparing to contact the station. Since he would need to send a comm signal through the wormhole, he needed to make numerous adjustments to insure the message made it through. Curious about the station, he was also keeping one eye on the data being sent back to them by their probe. They didn't have everything they needed to know, but at this point, Sanok was certain someone from the ship would be making a trip into the wormhole. There was really no other explanation now for what had happened to the crew of the Tesla. "Captain, I have sent a hail to the station, but I am not receiving a response. We are still being scanned." Since Soma had ordered the away team be transported back to the Rosenante, Sanok had to lower their shields. All his security instincts were telling him no, that they needed to keep their shields up, but he also didn't want to risk anything happening to the away team. Hopefully, they'd be okay. (reply Soma, any) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (USS Tesla, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 1621) As the computer diagnostics didn't revealed what was wrong with the warpcore, Tho'var decided to check it himself. After checking the warp chamber again, he finally found something odd when checking the dilithium chamber. He didn't realized it at first, partly cause of its partial blurry vision inherited from his Aenar genes, but the dilthium had some strange substance mixed to it. Tho'var took the dilithium out of the chamber for further analysis. Launching the test, it revealed that the substance were mensilium residues. "Computer, describe the substance mensilium." [Computer] : =/\= Mensilium is a substance discovered by Starfleet Medical and known for the mental effects it has on living beings. It is known to boost most species mental ability. It is a resource prized by Betazoid and Vulcans as it considerably increase telepathic abilities [...] =/\= The information was both very interesting and very odd. The abilities of mensilium was quite surprising and considering what happened to Torell, there was an evident connection. But the presence of mensilium residues in the warpcore couldn't be explained. Especially not mixed with dilithium. Tho'var opened a communication with ensign Andersen. "Lieutenant Tho'var to Ensign Andersen." (Reply Andersen) "Ensign, what do you know of the substance mensilium?" Tho'var asked. (Reply Andersen) "I found residues of that substance glued on the dilithium in the warpcore. I am trying to make sense of it, but I thought someone specialized in medicine would actually be better than I am. Would you....." Tho'var interrupted. He knew captain Soma asked the away team to return, but Tho'var curiosity and desire to find out the truth were quite persistent. He hoped he could find the answer before returning "Forget..... We must return to the USS Rosenante........I wanted to.......I am afraid I won't have time to get the answer to my question before we leave." Tho'var was slightly disappointed, but it wasn't over. He will have other opportunities to return to the USS Tesla and complete the research he had started. Everytime she had to remember something in a hurry, she would make a funny face while she tried hard to remember. Most of the times, she would just stand while thinking. She only took about two seconds of silence to think it out, she knew very well neither had much time and had to head back to Rose. "Uh, Mensilium is a heavy psychoactive substance known for stimulating the brainstem specifically and is widely used for boosting the telepathic abilities in telepathic individuals. There's also some limited connection between psychokinesis and..." not remembering everyone is in a hurry, she could talk on and on, but Tho'var continued. =/\= I found residues of that substance glued on the dilithium in the warpcore. I am trying to make sense of it, but I thought someone specialized in medicine would actually be better than I am. Would you.... =/\= Tho'var stopped there. Ailyn was thinking along with Tho'var's words. There weren't known reactions of mixing mensilium with dilithium, however, Ailyn was worried it was used in the warp core. What could happen in that case, she couldn't think of. She could not remembered anyone ever trying something like that. Could the reaction in the matter-antimatter reactor somehow amplify mensilium? This seemed far-fetched to Ailyn, although she wasn't exactly an engineer officer and had little practical knowledge about the reactor. She was sure Tho'var himself would find a better answer to this question. Tho'var continued =/\= Forget.... We must return to the USS Rosenante......I wanted to.....I am afraid I won't have time to get the answer to my question before we leave. =/\= Tho'var ended with the obvious dissapointment in his voice. "Aye sir, we can talk more on the Rose about it. I will be heading back to the Rose now. Anderson out." clicking the combadge, she nodded to the petty officer still patiently waiting at the console. Activating, both of the ladies awaited to be transported back. (Reply: None) (Posted by: Lani) ----- (USS Rosenante – Transport Room 3 – Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO – Day 1 – 1625) Ailyn was back on the Rose. Captain Soma called all the away team back as it has been new development in the mission. She checked her PADD to confirm she got everything back from Tesla she wanted for later reviewing, there simply wasn’t time to do it now. Hurrying through the Transporter doors and taking the turbolift that went straight to the bridge, she decided to check in at the center of action. “Bridge” she ordered the computer. The computer beeped and the turbolift started moving. It took time what felt to Ailyn as ages. Finally, the turbolift would stop moving and would open the doors, presenting the bridge and the officers in it to be busy and waiting for something. (USS Rosenante – Bridge – Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen ACMO – Day 1 – 1628) Ailyn entered the bridge seeing the officers all checking their consoles, something was happening obviously. While standing awkwardly at the entrance to the bridge from the left turbolift, she could see the main viewscreen. The mystery infront of the ship was a beautiful spiraling vortex. Ailyn knew not what it was, however she was sure it wasn’t coincidence the phenomenon happened right here in proximity where they found the Tesla. Looking the spiraling madness at the viewscreen for several moments, like she is hypnotized, she finally brought her look down and came up to Captain Soma. Looking at him, she just nodded at the Captain. She stood a bit behind to the right. She didn’t wanted to disturb him while he was giving orders, instead, she was sure he would issue an order to her if he needed her. He was hoping to get all the information needed before returning but at the same time, he knew he couldn't make the crew waiting too long. He inserted an isolinear chip into the main computer. "Computer, run a analysis off the presence of mensilium in the warpcore. Also, detect and locate the presence of mensilium in the ship, and ship systems. Copy all the data to the isolinear chip." The computer proceeded. "Computer, how long will it takes?" [Computer] =/\= Time estimated : 7 minutes, and 28 seconds.=/\= Tho'var looked at the time. He would be ready to return only at 1640. He opened a communication with his superior. "Lieutenant Tho'var to Lieutenant Jackson." (Reply Jackson) "Sir, I'm finishing an analysis of the warpcore. I will join you in about 10 minutes." (Reply Jackson) The communication ended, Tho'var returned to the warpcore. Opening the dilithium chamber, he released the safeties in order to get the dilithium out. The piece of dilithium released, he closed back the dilithium chamber and returned to the computer. Once the analysis completed, Tho'var took the chip and hurried to the transporter room. "Sir, we have broken the encryption, we are currently involved in starting up the Tesla's systems. Through creative power allocations and rationing we are able to maintain structural integrity and inertial dampers near optimal levels . We have partial main power from the impulse drives, Lieutenant Kevras has discovered an efficiency anomaly in the warp drive so has shut it down for safety. Thrusters are damaged so as not to be reliable enough for use. We have been able to maintain station-keeping using nano-bursts from the impulse engines. I can begin the down load of the logs at anytime." Andrew reported. =^= Download the logs and sensor data.=^= He replied. =^=You can review it when you return, I want you back on the Rosenante.=^= Andrew heard some of the background conversation, he heard something about a probe being launched and a wormhole. An Einstein-Rosenberg bridge could bring anything from any known or unknown distance, a sensible precaution removing us from a less than efficient vessel that has already proven to not have the ability to protect those on it from external threats. Still an extra ship could be useful in taking care of external threats. ~ Andrew worked efficiently and quickly. He wrote sub-routines on the fly, enabling him to control everything easily with access to the main computer, then he changed the command codes for the Tesla. Allowing him to access the main computer remotely from the Rosenante. He started an automated download sequence of all the personal, command and sensor logs. =^= Prepare to beam back.=^= He said. =^= There's been a new development and I want everyone back on the Rosenante.=^= " Understood, sir. He placed his engineering kit back where it belonged, and was reminded by his rumbling stomach that he hadn't eaten anything since he left the Rosenante. So he decided to begin the analysis here while he ordered something from the replicator. He tapped a few commands into his terminal and the computer autonomously began compiling the information for Andrew's quick analysis. He walked over to the replicator. "Bacon Cheese Burger, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. French fries and a cola to drink." As his order materialized Andrew momentarily reminisced about the diner outside the academy that he used to order this exact lunch on weekends to study. Though it was actually closer to diner than lunch. As he started wolfing down his meal he also took the information that was being compiled and put a twist on it's organization. Instead of each section being in chronological order separately, each was placed in absolute chronological order and then used for a holographic simulation. A base wire simulation of the Tesla was laid out, with a chronometer read out with the stardate and time group. When a log entry was made or a sensor reading or any event that Andrew had hard evidence about, a holographic representation was projected magnified from the place on the holographic Tesla where the entry was made or the event happened. All sensor readings were displayed from where the readings were logged. Any part of the hologram can be manipulated for magnification or can be accessed for specifics manipulation of data. Satisfied with his work he finished up some cosmetic details and sent the product to the First Officer for review. He took the last bite of his sandwich leaving the majority of his fries on the plate and placed it back in the replicator for reclaimation. He then made his way to the bridge. "Sorry sir to have kept you waiting....." Tho'var had to catch his breath. "I have done as fast as I could. ..... "But I believe the dilithium and isolinear chip I have here might reveal a lot about what happened on the USS Tesla." "No need to explain Lieutenant." Nathan said. Several of them did, but the rest were finishing their tasks first. Sanok supposed that was the correct decision, as they needed whatever was in the Tesla logs to determine what had happened. The problem was, in order for the team members to beam back, the Rosenante shields had to be down. This was most disagreeable to Sanok, as the longer the shields were down, the more likely something bad could happen. "Captain, I'm detecting activity from the station," said Sanok. A red beam of focused energy shot out from the station, heading directly towards the probe. Within seconds, the probe was enveloped in light. The image on the view screen flickered and disappeared, returning to the image of the wormhole. "The probe has been destroyed by an energy weapon fired from the station," said Sanok. Someone didn't like being watched. The Rosenante lurched. "Captain, there is a wave of energy coming from the..." Sanok never finished the sentence. His entire body began to tingle, as though an electrical current was passing through him. There was a brilliant flash of light, and in a twinkling of an eye, Sanok was gone. She was most curious about it. "Captain, I'm detecting activity from the station." said Sanok. Ailyn was still looking at the console when all contact with the probe was lost in an instant, and she could hear the flickering sound of the view screen loosing contact as well. Looking up, she could see the viewscreen returned to the image of the wormhole. The silence on the bridge was eerie, and Ailyn was worried, since the last of the away team took their time, the ship was without shields, if something would happen now, it would catch the Rose without her shields. "The probe has been destroyed by an energy weapon fired from the station." Sanok stated. ~I guess they're not in the mood for voyeurs~ thought Ailyn and smiled, although this wasn't a situation to joke about, she just couldn't help herself. "Captain, there is a wave of energy coming from the..." started Sanok, and as soon as Ailyn looked up to see what kind of an energy surge would that be on the viewscreen, Sanok dissapeared in a flash of light. Ailyn gasped and froze for a second. She could hear Jackson shouting "Sanok's vanished." in the background, but she was still focused on the wormhole. And indeed it seemed Sanok was gone. The rest of the bridge was silent as well. She quickly remembered the shields are still down but the last of the away team was safely back by now, they had to be. Instinctively looking at Ensign Maddox, she thought ~Shields... we need shields before others are taken as well...~ and it indeed seemed that the capable Ensign was reading her mind. Matrix had realized that Maddox was gifted in this realm and was going to earmark a commendation on his behalf to the Captain upon his earliest convenience. "I don't have any clue." said Peter looking over the telemetry from the Tesla. "I have to agree with you Peter. Mister Maddox appears to have a gift this this realm. Good thing he's on our side. Still we can extrapolate and impose a data posture from all this data. Implement the binary alpha-three-eight subroutine. I think the computer can cypher the data input that we transmitted from the Tesla. Perhaps we can get some good data results for the Captain?" said Matrix. "I agree sir. It will take a few days to get through the results, but we'll learn something for sure. I'll get the results to you as soon as I get them from the system." replied Peter. "Excellent. For the first time in a long while I'm feeling a bit behind this new generation. " said Matrix. Peter smiled, "Its inevitable, but you and I have the experience." The data made no sense as it scrolled across his screen. This mission was definitely not a run of the mill type. There seemed to be more questions than answers. Tom looked at the main view screen just in time to see a bright red energy beam leave the station and destroy the probe. The darkness was eerie after the bright flash. The Rose was being enfolded in the same beam as the one that destroyed the probe. Tom activated the Intruder alert system. The ship was bathed in kkaxxons and red lights. He flipped it open and began an intensive scan at the spot the FO used to be. ~Negative chrono metric readings.~ He thought to himself as he went down a list of things to look for in his head. Other than the obvious, he was transported somewhere at great speed, near instantaneously, and a great magnitude faster than the speed of light. Closest thing like it, transwarp, subspace beaming. Like whoever did this opened a one by two meter subspace corridor and transported Commander Sanok through it." (Reply Captain Soma) "Well I would have to figure out how to track it before I could give you a bearing. The light flash is no help on bearing, it's how I knew he was traveling faster than light, it's Cherenkov radiation, a photonic reaction to breaking the light barrier. We do the same thing when we begin a warp jump. Here I believe logic will outweigh empirical evidence, we can assume he went to the station or near it. It's the only structure including us with enough power to do it. I would be easier to tell you where he came out and start tracking him by his combadge, assuming they haven't removed it."
